PROJECT 03
SPATIAL EXPLORATION & MANIPULATION
( 40% INDIVIDUAL )
This assignment is designed to explore and articulate design ideas and spatial relationships. Students will manipulate and explore spaces within specific contexts, crafting immersive environments that evoke emotions through the play of light and shadows.
PROGRESS
SELECT CLIENT & MOODS
I selected myself as the client as I know myself the most. The moods I selected are SAD, FRUSTRATED and ANGRY.
WRITE NARRATIVES
Decide the title and write narratives for each space according to the mood selected. Narrative ease me to think the structure of the spaces.
SKETCH IDEAS FOR EACH SPACES
Sketching out the ideas to express the moods in each space was a challenging yet fulfilling process. I dedicated ample time to carefully consider how to construct structures that effectively communicate emotions through light and shadow.
BUILD MOCK-UP MODELS
Decide the model's structure and light casting to express the selected moods. I then focused on arranging the final model and considered the routes within the design to effectively relate my title "Emotive Incarceration".
BUILD FINAL MODEL
After receiving feedback from tutors and finalising my design, I embarked on constructing my final model. I made the decision to use white modeling board exclusively, aiming to achieve a clean, neat, and unified appearance for the model.
FINAL MODEL COMPLETION
The model is done and the light and shadow casting expressed the three moods I selected.
A2 PRESENTATION BOARD
Draw axonometric drawing, plan view, sectional view. Besides, include design concept, conceptual plan, design development and shadow images
SLIDE COMPILATION
Compile my inspirations, idea sketches, progress and images of mock-up and final models in slides.
OUTCOME

REFLECTION
This assignment was very difficult and abstract for me and it took me a lot of time just to understand the brief. Luckily, the time given for this assignment was long enough for me to better understand what the assignment wanted us to do. Although I had to pull an all-nighter for many days for this assignment, the good thing is that it turned out to be good.
Moreover, this was my last assignment at fnbe, so I have deeper feelings about it.
TGC AQUIRED
2.0: problem solving, critical and creative thinking skills
This assignment was an enriching experience where I embraced conceptual ideas rooted in a deep understanding of character. Through critical articulation, I explored design elements, principles, scale, and spatial manipulation. My presentation showcased creativity and originality in content, layout, composition and model making, culminating in a cohesive and connectable project.
