BUILDING CONSTRUCTION & MATERIALS
ABOUT
Building Construction and Materials aims to educate students on the fundamental aspects of building construction and the materials used in small to medium-scale projects. The module focuses on understanding the principles of building elements, covering both substructure and superstructure, as well as commonly used construction materials such as concrete, masonry, timber, metal, and glass. Each material will be examined in terms of its manufacturing process, properties, and typical applications in construction. To achieve the module's objectives, students will participate in continuous assessments, including assignments and tutorial activities. The teaching objectives are to introduce various types of building materials along with their properties and applications, and to develop an understanding of building elements and basic construction processes.
